Columbia South Carolina

Role Summary

As Station Manager, you will oversee all aspects of our local terminal (station) operations. You’ll lead staff, drivers, and contractors to ensure timely dispatch, safe operations, cost control, and top-notch customer service. You serve as the primary point of contact for operations, facilities, and client issues at the station level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage station staff, drivers, and third-party contractors

  • Monitor and execute daily dispatch plans: scheduling, routing, and adjustments

  • Ensure compliance with DOT, state, and local trucking and safety regulations

  • Track performance metrics (on-time delivery, cost per mile, utilization) and report to regional leadership

  • Maintain facility, yard, equipment, and security operations

  • Manage budgets, expenses, and profitability at the station

  • Handle customer communications arising at the local level (service issues, escalations)

  • Coordinate with maintenance, safety, compliance, and administration teams

  • Enforce company policies, safety protocols, and best practices

  • Hire, train, and conduct performance reviews of station personnel

    • Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in trucking, transportation, or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role

  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service rules, safety compliance

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Familiarity with dispatch systems, TMS (Transportation Management System), routing software

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

  • Valid driver’s license; some travel or site visits may be required

  • Experience working with multiple terminals or multi-state operations

  • Proven track record of cost control and process improvement
